The Weekend Artist is my travel, people and art blog. Having worked as a mainstream journalist with The Indian Express for over a decade, when I sat down to identify what I loved the most about my job: the answers were —travelling and meeting people. Shankar Mahadevan, Pandit Jasraj, Farhan Akhtar, Manohar Parrikar, Navy chief Admiral R K Dhowan, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq — the list of people I interviewed is a long one. And yes, I have met Narendra Modi and closely seen Barack Obama.. 🙂 From flooded Kashmir to Visakhapatnam and from riot-hit Assam to Dholavira: the Harappan citadel in the Rann of Kutch, I have travelled extensively across the length and breadth of India. A night at the Line of Control and a day on an aircraft carrier — being a journalist is life, not a job!
In 2015, I decided to take a break from mainstream media and decided to focus on two most exciting elements of my journalistic career: travelling to exciting places and meeting beautiful people. So far, I have been to six countries and am working towards my next trip.
On the sidelines, I paint and will shortly be displaying my select works here.
The Weekend Artist is my travel blog where I share my travel experiences and publish/ broadcast the exciting interviews I conduct during my travels or otherwise. I hope my travel tips help you to travel more and the journeys of people featured here inspire you to live a life full of dreams!
